China & Mongolia 2006

In December 2005, I decided it would be good to go on a long trip. My first idea was to start in Nepal, but after violent uproar broke out in the streets of Kathmandu in January, I decided to go to China instead. After some internet research I signed up for two volunteer projects with SIW Volunteer Network, one on Hainan island, China, and one in Mongolia. Both are children's summer camps. The perfect opportunity to get away from the screen for a few months and develop some latent skills...
