Itinerary for the next week
Tomorrow I will leave for Maduo (Qinghai) at an elevation of 4000m or so. The next leg of my trip, to Yushu (Qinghai), includes a pass at 5100m. I hope I will be ok, and not suffer too much from altitude sickness. There's not much I can do, anyway. Going down is not really an option. There's only one bus a day, and I don't really want to go back anyway. The scenery along the way should be absolutely gorgeous. I'm really looking forward to see the snow-capped peaks from the comfort of my bus seat ;-) Will see. Hopefully I can shoot some video too. All batteries are fully charged, a fresh tape in place.
After Yushu, the road will pass many Tibetan monasteries and towns, and will gradually descend into Sichuan province. The weather has not been great the past days, I heard. Hopefully it will be fine for traveling. At least I have my new jacket which will keep me warm and dry. In Sichuan there has been lots of flooding the past weeks, and typhoons have been hammering the coast. Hopefully, by the time I get back to Chengdu, the weather has improved, and will be just as nice as when I was there in July.
